What we collect

When you create an account we collect your name and email. When you post a listing we collect the details you provide — title, description, photos, an approximate location, and a date. We also collect basic usage data to keep the service running and to fight spam and abuse.

What stays private

Your email address is never shown publicly. The precise location of an item is generalized on the map. Private messages between members are visible only to the people in that conversation. You decide if and when to share contact details with another member.

How we use information

We use your information to operate FindBack: to show your listings to neighbors, to deliver your messages, to send you the digest if you opt in, and to keep the community safe. We don't sell your personal information, and we don't run third-party ad tracking.

Photos and location

Photos you upload are displayed on your listing. We strip precise GPS data and show only the neighborhood-level location you choose, so posting where you lost something doesn't reveal exactly where you live.

Your choices

You can edit or delete your listings at any time, unsubscribe from the digest with one click, and request that we delete your account and associated data. Manage what you've posted from your dashboard.

Cookies

We use a small number of essential cookies to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. We don't use them to build advertising profiles.

Children

FindBack isn't intended for anyone under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children, and we remove it if we learn we have.
